Clothing drawer measuring checklist
Start with one drawer and the clothing you use most. Compare the interior space with each organiser piece before planning a whole layout.
01 / Measure inside the drawer
Use the clear interior space between runners, fittings and other obstructions. Outside cabinet measurements do not show the space an organiser can use.
| What to record | Your measurement |
|---|---|
| Clear inside width at the narrowest point | ____________ cm |
| Clear inside depth | ____________ cm |
| Usable height when the drawer closes | ____________ cm |
| Width / thickness of a folded garment | ____________ cm |
| Space available for lifting a lid or box | ____________ cm |
02 / Choose one main format
- Soft cells for small folded items: check the cell opening, not only the outer box.
- Removable divider strips: plan the grid and closing height; do not assume tension mounting.
- A lidded box or tall basket: compare drawer height with a wardrobe shelf instead.
More compartments do not guarantee more garment capacity. Do not force rigid bra cups into a narrow cell.
03 / Plan room to use it
- Include folded clothing and any lid in the closing-height check.
- Compare pieces separately, then their combined footprint.
- Leave access for fingers, lifting boxes and opening a lid.
- Keep an open zone for garments that do not suit small cells.
04 / Compare the exact product option
Product / layout / colour: ___________________________________________________________
Piece A - outside width: ______ cm Depth: ______ cm Height: ______ cm
Piece B - outside width: ______ cm Depth: ______ cm Height: ______ cm
Pieces supplied in the selected pack: ______ My planned quantity: ______
Overall box dimensions are not internal cell dimensions. Ask for missing compartment measurements when exact fit matters. A four-piece set need not all fit in one drawer. Store clean, dry clothing; fabric lids are not a moisture seal.
